Well Eddie, you just climbed uh out of the car after an interesting and fascinating race three. We'll talk about that in a in a moment. But it's been I I'm gonna say a good weekend for you. You've been incrementally better in each of the the three races and some very good performances.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, thank you. I felt stronger, I think, across the weekend as the weekend went on, but um it's just one of those things like you can never quite have enough time in the car, but like if I had another race this afternoon, it would be even better. But yeah, I actually really enjoyed that one. I can't actually believe that I kept the two drivers behind me for about 20 minutes, but um yeah, very very pleased.
SPEAKER_01
It was a very good drive uh and finishing P7, which matches your best performance of the season. Um and uh for anybody that were watching the television coverage, you featured heavily for the for the last 10 minutes with some very nice comments from the commentators about uh your ability to keep those cars behind you.
SPEAKER_00
Oh well that's really kind and obviously great for my my sponsors and my partners as well on the TV. But um, yeah, it was on to be honest, I I was stronger in the first half of the lap, it seems, and then the second half of the lap I was a bit weaker than my competitors behind, so it was all on the hairpin, really. I knew that a lunge up the hairpin was uh quite likely to be honest, so I had to just keep basically stopping the car and do it what felt like 10 miles an hour on the apex just to keep them behind, and it seemed to work, so yeah, but the pressure was constantly on. I was trying not to look in my mirrors too much, but when you see a flash of orange keep swinging around in the mirror, you're very well aware of it. So, yeah, it was sort of the second half of the lap, but I just thought if I keep stopping the car on the apex, there's no way they can get past. And that was the the people in front were too far in front, really, for me to catch, so it was all about just keeping the people behind if I could.
SPEAKER_01
Croft has its own uh idiosyncrasies, not least of all how bumpy it is uh around here. But it's a challenging 2.2 miles, isn't it?
SPEAKER_00
It is, and there's no respite either. I mean, we do have long straights around here, but to be honest, they're more kinks than straights, you're flat out 140 miles an hour, trying to keep the the car on the track as much as possible. So, yeah, it's um it's a long lap, but you're it's full on. I'll be happy to go in my own bed tonight and have a proper sleep. I am absolutely shattered, but um yeah, it's uh to be honest, your eyes are out on stalks the whole time. It's quite a high-stakes circuit, really, and it's um yeah, very high speed and not a lot of room between you and the barrier. So, yeah, it's been uh attention on the uh on the track and uh trying to keep it on as much as possible.
SPEAKER_01
Interesting point you make about physical fitness as well, because they're they're hefty cars to haul around a circuit here, aren't they? And it it really tests your your physicality.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, it does. To be honest, I think being tense doesn't help because obviously, as you can imagine, if you're sat tensed up, your muscles uh tire out a little bit quicker, which I think to be honest, I have been a little bit tense around Crop Circuit, so yeah, it's not been um it's I mean it's perfectly fine. To be honest, it's the heat more than anything else, which luckily it hasn't been too hot, but you're basically sat on the engine in these cars, so the the cockpit does get pretty hot very quickly. But yeah, I'm uh it's been a fantastic weekend. It's been amazing to drive this car around this circuit. It's been an absolute privilege to be honest, and to be with this team, clean racing, and all of my partners on board as well. I feel very proud. It's um we never know how long the season's going to last. I had a bit of damage across the weekend, and it looked it's looking likely actually that this might be my last round, which is gutting. But um, yeah, if if this is the last round, then I think we've gone out on a high.
SPEAKER_01
Well, let's keep our fingers crossed that that that isn't um isn't the case because this weekend, as I say, each race you've got better and better. If you learnt more in the car, you'd look more comfortable. What do you feel that you have learnt most about you and the car this weekend?
SPEAKER_00
I think it's just confidence, you know, when the tyres are going off. I I do tend to struggle in sort of the last five minutes of the race, um, just when the tyres are going off that little bit more, and I'm getting a bit more oversteer. I'm getting more and more comfortable dealing with that oversteer, which I think is quite nice, particularly in quite a high pressure environment when you have got other cars around you. You can't afford to slow down too much, and you always want to capitalise on the track limits penalties ahead of you as well. So you're trying to go as quickly as you can, still as far into the race as you possibly can. So I think for me, I think it's been just the longevity of making the tyre last, keeping uh keeping cool under pressure, that's always a good one to learn from. But yeah, in general, it's just it seems that every single race weekend I just feel more and more comfortable, which makes this such a shame, really, that this might be the last one. But um, I'm hoping not, but yeah, it's it's it's an absolute privilege to be here, and I feel very lucky.
SPEAKER_01
So, yeah, it's been very well after a good night's sleep, you'll be able to watch the uh the recorded highlights again and and hear those amazing comments from uh from the commentators. Um so okay, I I guess the big thing is sponsorship and money, isn't it? So where and how can people get in touch if they would like to get involved with you?
SPEAKER_00
Well, I'd love to hear from anyone to be honest that um has a business that they want to market in a new and unique way. Obviously, Motorsport is a very fast-paced environment, isn't it? And it's uh like you say, we've got uh live TV and fantastic commentary, and it really is just a moving billboard for your brand. So I've got a website, lydiawormsy racing.co.uk, and you can find me on all social media, it's quite easy to find me. It's Lydia Wormsley Racing. So um yeah, but I'd love to hear from anyone that wants to market their brand uh with someone that you know is um trying to pave away, I guess, for people that probably can't afford to be here and try to prove that budget shouldn't be a barrier, which um I'm finding is a little bit of a barrier, but I want to prove to people that you know no matter who they are, they should be able to get into motorsport and thrive. We've had uh a lot of trackside support this weekend, most notably actually Fenix Spray have made the trip. They're very committed. They came to Nok Hill and they've come to Croft as well. They're from uh sort sort of from the Midlands, really, so it is a bit of a trek for them. So, yeah, huge shout out to Fenix Spray, they've been uh fantastic trackside support, both on and off the track. So, yeah, it's been fantastic.
